My Dear Wife:
Here I am on my back writing you another account of myself. I have written you every day since my arrival and shall continue to do so, as long as there is any *anxiety* about it.
My leg did not give me much trouble last night, but it is more painful to the touch this morning. The Doctor left me rather abruptly this morning, after he had looked at it pretty carefully. What he thinks I don't know.
Capt Keyes' wife has come & they have given him a little room where they can be together. He is quite seriously wounded, being shot thro' the chest.
The other Officers are about the same. Love to you all, Thine ever L.B.B.
