Letter from Luther Bruen, Washington, DC to Augusta Bruen, 1863-12-29

Transcription
Washington DC. Dec. 29 1863 My Dear Augusta: I was a little too fast in sending my letter yesterday. Leave of absence was refused me, and I go back to the Army this afternoon. I am sorry, but it can't be helped now. I will try to get leave when I go back and if successful will leave about the middle of *next week*. You must excuse me for not writing more as I am obliged to start back very soon. Of course you will hear from me again soon, at least I will write soon whether you receive the letter soon or not. Yours in hope LBBruen Robert says he expects to be *home* on Saturday.
