Letter from Luther Bruen, Camp on Kettle Run to Augusta Bruen, 1864-01-03
Camp on Kettle Run Jany 3 1864 My Dearest Wife I have got a leave for fifteen days, but shall not be able to get away from here before recovering. You may therefore expect me on Friday night or Saturday morning. I would start earlier but I have to wait to sign the muster rolls. I tried to get leave to apply for an extension of my leave but that was not granted. I have an opportunity of sending this to Washington by private had I to avail myself of it. I must be brief. Good bye. L.B.B.
