Dear wife
I take this oppertunity of writing those few loynes to you and the children hoping that it will find you in good health as this leaves me in at present thanks be to God for his blessing to me so far a through the danger which I have to under go but with of God He will save me from this battle which I think it will be the last. I was paid yesterday a months pay and I sent you 15 dollars with the Mayor of Chelsey is name is Fry which he will send it to you as swoon as he gets home and if not you will

call to the Mayor of Boston which it is from there I think it will be delivered from; and as swoon as you get it you will let me now, which I hope that I will be living to rcd the answer and if not you will hear of my death. You must excuse me for those few loynes for I feel sleepy for I am after coming off pickett this morning which I do not feel very smart. We had to keep up steady fire all night from both sides. You must think it is hard when we have to carry some dead hom to camp avery morning. We lost 2 men last night and 2 woonded which is not very pleasant to com to brakfas with

I hope the children is in good health and if the are it is all right the will be expecting me home some tim to see them. You will give them my love and make them be good and quite and God will bless them. Give my love to all the friends and neaighbors.
