Mrs. Bridgett Lally

Dear wife
I rcd a letter from you on the 11 which gives me great pleasure to here that you and the children was in good health which the depature of this leaves me in the same thanks be to God for his blessing to me.

Dear wife
I am glad that I have the opertunity of sending you some money this morning for fear it might be the last for we have a dangerous battle before us in a few days but with the help of God he will save me from the danger and bring me safe through it as he has before and with the help of him I will get though this.

Dear wife
I got paid today 2 months pay and in a few days you will get 15 dollars. I suppose it will come to Roxbury to you for that was my direction and so swoon as you rcd it you will write and let me know about it. Also I send you five dollars in this letter fer to help to dress the children for the summer which I hope it will get to you in quick time. You will let Patrick now that I red a letter from him last week which he wrote on the 2 of June and I have got on the 5 which I was very happy to here that ye ware all in good health. I will write in a few days to him and I hope by that time I will be safe in Richmond.

Dear wife
I should mention a little about the Battle of Fair Okes but about the whole particulars in the paper as near as I could come to it; but with the help of God I will [live] long enough to writ the particulars of the Battle of Richmond. I have not much to say at present but let me know if Martin stops with you or is he doing anything and give him my respects. And also give all the girls my respects and remember me to them all. No more at present from you affection husband Michael Lally
Goody by Mary and Marthew and Margritt ad tell Johnny that his Father is in the soldiers
