For Bridgett Lalley
Dear wife and children
I sit down to write those few loynes to you hoping it will find ye in good health as this leaves me in at present thanks be to God for his blessing to me.
Dear wife
You must excuse me for not writing to you befor this fer we are on the march this last 15 days and this is the only day which I had fer myself fer that tim. I also inform you that I got the box you sent me last night which was of great service to [me] for the meat was very good indeed. The boots was allright and ther was one bottle broke that was all the dificulty. I hope you will not be uneasy about me for my health is very good thanks be to God, and take good care of your self and the children fer the winter. Fer I hope that providanc will prove kind that I will see ye once more. Give my love to Mary and Marthew and Margritt and Johney and give Margrit this little cross

in remembrence of me for I mad it out of [10.00] piece. Writ to me as soon aa you rec'd this and let me now how you are getting along. And give my love to Martin Keegan and John which I hope the are working this winter. And not forgetting the girls give my best respec to Mary Keegan and Ellan and Margrt and Cathrine and let me know it any of them got married as yet. I hope that I will have the ans of this befor we will have a battle for a tis so long sinc I have herd from you and the children I feel uneasy about it or fear that I might meet with my mischances, but God is good.
I have no more to say at present but I wish ye all a Happy Chrismas.
