April 13, 1863

Dear wife and children
I rec'd a letter from you on the 10 inst which gives me great pleasure to here that ye ware well and in good health as the departure of this leaves me in at present thanks be to God for his blessing to us all. Dear wife I am sorry to say that I have not being paid as yet for I expected to be paid this last two weeks every day. They will owe us 6 months the first of May which is too much for them that has got a family after them.

Dear wife you mad mention of I not taking ten days furlow. I considered som about it and after considering I thought it was better for me to send ye what it would cost me to go hom and back for it would do you more good that I to spend it on the carrs. And in regard or the Expriss do not mind it except Stewart is coming him self and if he is send by him what I told you in the las.
Give my love to Mary and Marthu[r] and Margey and Johnney hoping that the will live in good health until I go hom to see them once more.

Dear wife
I main to inform you that we have no great sine of moving from here at present. I do believe that we won't move until the last of this month or the first of nex month. Our cavilry and flying artilry lef here today for some pint but I think the will return again before the Army will move. I have no more to say at present. Give my love to Martin and John Keegan and to all the girls.
I conclude by sending you all my blessing. No more at present from your affectionate husband
