Dear wife
I sit down to write those few loynes to you hoping it will find you and children in good health as the departure of this leaves me in at present.
Dear wife
I should ans. your letter before this date but I was weating to get orders to go home every day, but we have got none as yet. There did 50 men leave our Reg't for home yesterday. The are discharging the army as fast as the can get transportation, except the veterans will be the last. Now I think it

that the balance of the Reg't will not get home before the middle of July and as swoon as we get orders to go I write and let you [now] the day we will start. Give my love to the childrn. I hope to god that I will see ye all in a few days.
