October 22nd 1861

Dear wife,
After a long abcince and uncontintmint of mind I got a few moments and I sot down to write you those few loynis hoping it might find you and my children in good health as this laves their father in at present thank be to his Maker for it. I should writ to you swooner only your temper was out of order when I left home so I thought by this tim and spiscily coming on the cold weather that your mind might got cool and I hope a tis your own good.

Dear wife
You must not feel unaasy for me. My health is very good. Some times I feel lomison for ye but it can not be helped. At present I sent you $25.00 dollars by Exprys and let me now if you got it in this answer of this and if I live till the first of the [(year)] I will send you some more. I hope Mary and Martha and Margrit and Johnny is in good [health] and let me now if the[y] talk about me. Give my love to all the frends and remember me to Martin. I hope his hand is strong now.
