Dear wife
I rc'd a letter from you a few days ago stating that the children had the chin cough, which I am very sorry for them. I thought the ware over it since last fall, but with the help of God it will not amount to much now for it must be on decline. Also you mad mention about a receit of 10 dollars which you got. I do not now anything about 10 dollars for it is 15 dollars which I sent home and if you

don't get it write as quick as you can and I shall have it put on the next pay role for I expect to be paid the last of this month. I have all the letters which you sent me but I think that the all don't go for I here a good many [complaints] of their letter. I also main to let you now that I am well and in good health at present thank the Lord for it. The weather is very hot her at present which is the only thing that trouble us. I suppose you have herd of the battle which held for 3 days. The papers I suppose gives all particulars about it.

Dear wife
I feel very glad that your brother John is landed and I hope that I will have the pleasure of his company som time or other if I live a through this war. I hope it will be over coming on the fall. As swoon as you get this letter get brother John to put up a small box and send it to me. Tell him put 1 gal. of whiskey in 1 gal jog which it is the safest place to put [it] and send me a towel and 2 pocket hankerchief and that will be all I want except if you think that you bak bread to stand to come here for I have not got any soft bread for 6 month.

Dear wife
I hope you will not feel uneasy about me. Take all the care you can of the childrn and remember me to them and tell Marthure that I will send her a present next pay day. Give my love to Martin and John and all the Keegan girls. No more at present from your affectionate husband
