Dear wife and childrn
I set down to writ those few loynes to ye hoping it will find ye in good health as the departure of this laves me thank the Lord. I wrote a few loynes to you 2 weeks ago as we are moving the same day I had [no] tim to say much. I main to inform you that we did not move only 5 miles north of the Rapahanick Riverin to the woods wher we could get shelter.
---
Dear wife
You spoke about aught trying to get a furlow to go home to see ye. There is no lave giving from the War Department and the only way to get furlow is for you to go to Governor Andrew and he can give you a furlow for 15 or 20 days by telling him that I have being out since the Reg't left Boston and perhaps he would get me one
Dear wife
I hope ye are all well and along without any trouble for by this time I thought I should be able to give you some help. We were not paid as yet but we expect it every day.
---
I have not much to say at present about the moving of troops for everything is quite at present. The weather is very drie and pleasant; something as it would be in Boston the first of May. Give my love to the childrn and Martin and John and to all the Keegan girls.
No more at present from your affectionate
Michael Lalley
