Dear wife and children
I sit down with pleasure to writ those few loines to ye hoping it will find ye in good health as the departur or this leavs me thanks be to God for his blessing us all. I rc'd a letter from you on the 27 ins which givs me great pleasur to here that ye ware all well. I main to inform you that we were paid 2 months pay yesterday and we expected to get 4 month but we got mistaken.

Dear wife
There is 15 dollar gine home the same as useal which I hope you will be in good [health] to receive it. Also I send you 5 dollars in this letter. I hope it will arrive safe. I could send you a little more but I expect to get a furlow but I fear it will be impossible. Writ as swoon as you get this. Give my love to the childrn and I am very glad that Mary can write so well. Tell her to try to write a little larger and in a short time will write better.

I have not much to say now but I hope I shall [arrive] before long to see ye all. Give my love to John and Martin and to all the Keegan girls.
No mor at present but I remain your truly Husband
