Mass Vol. V.A. May 25, 1863
Dear wife and childrn
I rec'd a letter from you dated the 15 ins which makes me feel happy to here that you and the childrn is in good health as the departure of this leave me in at present thanks be to God for his blessing to us all.
I main to let you now that my health is improved very much since I have returned from the battle field for we had no duty to do since except what we needed to do four our selfs. And also we get soft bread every day since we came back.

Dear wife
I main to inform you that our opinion is here at present that what army is here at present wont go into another battle untill there is more army raized and that will take 4 months sertain. All the 2 years and nine month men is going hom this month and except the do draft, the Army of the Potomac will be very small. You mad mention of sending out a box to me. You must not do it for it would be robed as it was before. For all the boxes is opned and what is any good is taken out. I will try to get along the best I can for this year.

I have not much to say at present but give my love to the childrn and tell Mary to write me another letter and I will ans' it for when I got it before I had not time to do so. I hope Marthur is a good girl and tell her to let her hair grow untill I go home and let me know if Margey has her letter as yet and if she has I will send her the prise of a bonnet next pay day and tell Marthure to writ her name in
Mary letter. Give my love to them all and remember me to Johney. I hope he will make as good a boy as Jimmy.

Dear wife
Writ as swoon as you receive thos few loynes and let me now how you are getting along and if you can spare it send me 3 dollars in the letter. Give my love to Martin and John and all the girls and to Michael Tarphey and remember me [to] Andrew Lalley and family.
I will conclude by sending you and childrn my blessing and the blessing of God.
