February the 23 1864

Dear wife
I set down to write those few loynes to you hoping to find you and childrn in good health as the departure of this leaves me in at present thanks be to God for his blessing to us all.

Dear wife
I have sent you $25 dollar by Adams Express Co. the 12 of ins. and I have not herd from it as yet. If you got it I hope that you will ans those bills as you get them and not to be weating for me to write.

Dear wife
The Reg't is getting paid two months pay today and you will get $15 dollars more the same as usule. I hope that you will ans. this and rigt away for I might lose the receite.
I have not much to say at present. Give my love to the childrn and I hope Margritt will be better able to spell than she is when I go home or I will give her a [whipping] I have received Mary letter yesterday. She is improving very much and so is Marthure to.

Give my respects to Martin and John and Family and to Mary and Ellon Keegan hoping to see them once more in good health and all inquiring friends.
