Hadrian
Emperor Publius Aelius Hadrianus (76-138CE) ruled the Roman Empire from AD 117 to 138. He was adopted by Trajan in AD 117. Hadrian’s extensive building programs (including the Pantheon, Temple of Venus and Roma, and the Villa at Tivoli) transformed the face of Rome.1 He spent most of his reign travelling outside Rome.
